It works in a linear manner, that is, the earlier phase has to be completed before moving on to the next phase. Working in phases helps to define, facilitate and implement the right training tools.\u202f\u00a0<\/p><p>Let\u2019s understand each phase in detail.\u00a0<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-0e3c669 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"0e3c669\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">ANALYSIS <\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-db0d96f elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"db0d96f\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>Said to be the \u2018goal-setting phase\u2019, analysis is all about knowing the target audience. You have to recognise the problems being faced by the learners so that they can be dealt\u00a0with\u00a0in a systematic way. You have to identify the learner\u2019s prior knowledge and what the learner must achieve after taking the course.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p><p>These findings lay the foundation\u00a0of\u00a0successfully\u00a0designed\u00a0course.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-588af77 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"588af77\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">DESIGN <\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-d2d963f elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"d2d963f\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>The design phase includes identifying the learning objectives, chunking the information to be included, subject matter analysis, creating lesson plans, exercises, assessments, and selecting media tools.\u00a0A blueprint of the course is created in this phase.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p><p>The success of the course largely depends on how logically you design the learning material. Learning materials that meet the needs or address the problems\u00a0of the learners that have been\u00a0identified in the analysis phase ensure effective learning.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-c0a2baa elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"c0a2baa\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">DEVELOPMENT <\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-af2039d elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"af2039d\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>The development stage is the \u2018action\u2019 phase, because, it is in this stage that you start to actually create or develop the course. The information gathered from the earlier two phases and the platform for developing the course once established in this phase are used to create the learning material. This is also when pilot testing is done. Pilot testing saves time and effort on revamping the deliverables.\u00a0It also helps to identify whether the designed learning materials meet the learning goals.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-3201e2c elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"3201e2c\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">IMPLEMENTATION <\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-a5bdf56 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"a5bdf56\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>After\u00a0a\u00a0successful pilot test, the finalised\u00a0training material\u00a0is ready to be shared with the learners.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p><p>The target audience see and interact with the course for the first time.\u00a0This phase is important as the learners and creators of the course work together.\u00a0Based on a detailed monitoring and\u00a0learner\u2019s feedback, if required, the content is\u202fanalysed, redesigned and updated to achieve positive\u00a0results.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-bc2d79f elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"bc2d79f\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">EVALUATION <\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-fd3bc9f elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"fd3bc9f\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>This\u00a0is the last phase of the ADDIE model. This phase determines if the learning goals set in the analysis phase have been successfully met. Evaluation is categorised into two parts: formative evaluation and summative evaluation. Formative evaluation takes place in all the phases of the model. However, summative evaluation takes place at the very end. It is applied to identify the effectiveness of the training and makes fixes, if any. Surveys\u00a0are\u00a0conducted at the end of the training to get the learner\u2019s feedback.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-3014617 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"3014617\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">DICK AND CAREY MODEL <\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-7d030cd elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"7d030cd\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>This model is an Instructional Systems Design (ISD) model. The assessments and learning materials are developed under a systematic process for a formal training.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p><p><strong>The model\u00a0includes\u00a0nine steps:\u00a0<\/strong><\/p><ul><li>Identifying goals and objectives\u00a0<\/li><li>Completing instructional analysis\u00a0<\/li><li>Determining entry behaviors and learner characteristics\u00a0<\/li><li>Writing performance objectives\u00a0<\/li><li>Developing criterion-referenced eLearning assessments\u00a0<\/li><li>Developing the\u00a0<a title=\"https:\/\/blog.instancy.com\/instructional-design-for-higher-education\/\" href=\"https:\/\/www.instancy.com\/blog\/instructional-design-for-higher-education\/\">instructional eLearning strategy\u00a0<\/a><\/li><li>Choosing learning materials and online activities\u00a0<\/li><li>Carrying out a formative evaluation\u00a0<\/li><li>Carrying out summative evaluation\u00a0<\/li><\/ul>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-7de3935 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"7de3935\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">THE SAM MODEL <\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-00c68e3 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"00c68e3\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>SAM stands for Successive Approximation\u202fModel. As the project progresses,\u00a0by\u00a0using the SAM model, you can simultaneously make the required changes to your training program. That is, several steps take place at the same time. In the initial preparation phase, information is gathered and changes are made quickly to the design. Hence, this model it is also known as Agile development.\u00a0<\/p><p>It is much faster as compared to the ADDIE model.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-f33e7a2 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"f33e7a2\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h3 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">SAM is an iterative model. It has three phases: <\/h3>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-59bf021 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"59bf021\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<ul><li>Preparation phase\u00a0<\/li><li>Iterative design phase\u00a0<\/li><li>Iterative development phase\u00a0<\/li><\/ul>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-9d6e510 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"9d6e510\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">ITERATIVE DESIGN <\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-a274d39 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"a274d39\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>Iterative design includes the development of learning material in parts. Each part is refined based on feedback and evaluation.\u00a0As mentioned,\u00a0ADDIE and SAM are the two widely used models that are\u00a0based on iterative design. The advantage of iterative design is that it prepares you well before going ahead with the testing and execution of the\u00a0learning\u00a0material.\u00a0<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-21d97e5 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"21d97e5\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">KEMP DESIGN MODEL <\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-6bcb6c1 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"6bcb6c1\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>As\u00a0compared\u00a0to the Dick and Carey model\u00a0that applies a\u00a0linear\u00a0approach, the\u00a0Kemp Design Model\u00a0is based on\u00a0a circular approach.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p><p><strong>It\u00a0is\u00a0a\u00a0nine-step model\u00a0that comprises:\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/p><ul><li>Identifying\u00a0instructional problems\u00a0\u00a0<\/li><li>Examining\u00a0learners\u2019\u00a0characteristics\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/li><li>Identifying\u00a0subject content, and analyzing\u00a0task components\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/li><li>Stating\u00a0instructional objectives\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/li><li>Sequencing\u00a0content\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/li><li>Designing\u00a0instructional strategies\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/li><li>Designing\u00a0instructional message and delivery\u00a0\u00a0<\/li><li>Selecting\u00a0resources\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/li><li>Developing\u00a0evaluation instruments\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/li><\/ul><p>Some of these\u00a0steps can be worked on at the same time,\u00a0while some\u00a0steps can\u00a0be\u00a0avoided.\u00a0Thereby, giving\u00a0more flexibility to the\u00a0course developers.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-3d89156 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"3d89156\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">GAGNE\u2019S NINE EVENTS OF INSTRUCTION <\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-6afa629 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"6afa629\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>Gagne\u2019s nine events\u00a0are based on\u00a0a systematic instructional design process.\u00a0Based on the learning situation, changes can be made to the\u00a0events, thus, giving flexibility to the developers of the course.\u00a0It is\u00a0one of the\u00a0most\u00a0widely used\u00a0instructional design models.\u00a0<\/p><p><strong>It is a nine-step process that includes:\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/p><ul><li>Gaining\u00a0the attention\u202fof the students\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/li><li>Informing\u00a0students\u202fof the objectives\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/li><li>Stimulating\u00a0recall\u202fof prior learning\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/li><li>Presenting\u00a0the content\u202f\u00a0\u00a0<\/li><li>Providing\u00a0learner guidance\u202f\u00a0\u00a0<\/li><li>Eliciting\u00a0performance\u202f\u00a0\u00a0<\/li><li>Providing\u00a0feedback\u202f\u00a0\u00a0<\/li><li>Assessing\u00a0performance\u202f\u00a0\u00a0<\/li><li>Enhancing\u00a0retention and transfer to the job\u202f\u00a0\u00a0<\/li><\/ul><p>All these models help\u00a0you\u00a0to structure and plan\u00a0the\u00a0training.
