Session 1: Mobile Learning: Taking Learning to the Next
Level: Implementing a Mobile Learning Solution
Sunday, October 10
9:00 AM - 4:00 PM
Session Number/Code: P11
Just like the Internet and Web transformed online learning
in a fundamental way (from a stand-alone desktop to a
networked paradigm), the advent of mobile and wireless
technologies have the potential to transform learning
yet again to the next level. How will mobile and wireless
technology impact learning? What is the impact of pervasive
learning to knowledge-worker performance? What is the
business process and organizational impact of this new
paradigm? Join these m-learning experts in an exploration
of emerging mobile learning and performance technologies
and see real world examples in action. Learn to:
- Add mobile learning and performance to their learning
technology toolbox.
- Select mobile and wireless technologies to solve
performance and productivity problems.
- Define the criteria for selecting the right kind
of mobile and wireless technology.
- Differentiate between learning/courseware models
and performance support.
- Integrate learning and knowledge support with
day-to-day tasks and workflows.
You’ll
receive a Pocket PC (yours to keep)
pre-loaded with resources for use in this hands-on
workshop.

Session 2: Mobile Learning: Getting Started with Mobile Learning: Technology,
Lessons and Opportunities and Design
Monday, October 11
8:30 AM - 9:30 AM
Session Number/Code: 107
Mobile learning is not only a hot new buzz phrase,
it offers some great new capabilities. It also can
be yet another money pit. Get not only a heads up on
what’s happening and what the possibilities are,
but also take advantage of lessons learned, and how
to go about designing a solution, not just a showcase.
Get an overview of m-learning with lots of pointers
about things to do (and not do), and how to go about
it. You’ll learn:
- Mobile technologies and models.
- Successful applications.
- Common misconceptions.
- How to get started.
Bring your PDA/mobile phone!

Session 3: Demystifying E-learning Standards
Monday, October 11
2:00 PM - 3:30 PM
Session Number/Code: 215
The e-learning industry is faced with the challenge
of adopting a set of industry-wide standards to ensure
future interoperability between e-learning platforms.
This session will review and clarify the current state
of standards, as well as specify the problems standards
presumably will solve. Discussion will also focus on
the use of learning objects and the role they play
in the development of standards.
Understand the current state of e-learning standards.
Recognize the opportunities and solutions e-learning
standards present for business issues.
Learn what the future holds for e-learning standards.

Session 4: The Workflow Learning Symposium: Designing
Work/Learning Convergence
Wednesday, October 13
2:00 PM - 3:00 PM
Session Number/Code: 512
You may have heard the line that, "In theory
there is no difference between theory and practice.
But, in practice, there is." This session focuses
on practice. Harvey Singh has lots of it. Harvey developed
a sophisticated Real-time Workflow Learning System
leveraging his background in building commercially
successful learning object management systems, real-time
collaboration systems, Web Services architecture, simulations
and learning games. From this cornucopia of experience,
Harvey will use examples to model Workflow Learning
that incorporates mobile learning, contextual collaboration,
business process, real-time feedback, and bottom-out
change management. Kevin Tsurutome will share examples
and experiences of this new wave of learning technologies.
