Spaced Mobile Learning a New Model for Mobile Learning
Presented by Harvey Singh
Spaced Mobile Learninga New Model for Mobile Learning

Instructional and eLearning designers are being challenged to design and create learning experiences for mobile devices. However, the concept of recreating an eLearning course for mobile devices isn't going to work very well. You must consider newer approaches to mobile learning design, and this session dives into alternative and more effective ways of delivering learning on mobile devices.

Participants in this session will learn the concept of mobile push notifications, breaking the content into tiny learning bursts, and delivering them repetitively over a longer period. You'll also dive into the concept of "adaptive learning" to personalize the information delivered to the learner. This newer approach for designing and delivering mobile learning is more cost effective and yields higher job-performance results

Instancy to participate at I/ITSEC 2014 conference in Orlando, Florida and present its xAPI implementation at the ADL xAPI PlugFest event
Dec 3rd and Dec 4th, Orlando, Florida
Instancy to participate at I/ITSEC 2014 conference in Orlando, Florida and present its xAPI implementation at the ADL xAPI PlugFest event Dec 3rd and Dec 4th, Orlando, Florida

I/ITSEC (Interservice/Industry Training, Simulation and Education Conference) is an annual event that "promotes cooperation among the Armed Services, Industry, Academia and various Government agencies in pursuit of improved training and education programs, identification of common training issues and development of multiservice programs."

ADL has planned a one-day co-located xAPI-event at I/ITSEC called 'Experience API PlugFest' on Wednesday, December 3.

Participants will spend the morning learning about how the xAPI works and how it can be used to increase learning and performance effectiveness by using open source solutions to track and share learning data among training systems, no matter how the training is accomplished (e.g., via mobile device, social media, games, virtual environments, simulators). The afternoon will be a unique opportunity for attendees to engage with xAPI-enabled systems through hands-on tutorials.

Schedule of the event is as follows:

  • xAPI Adopters showcase presentations + demos
  • Moving from SCORM to the xAPI
  • xAPI Reporting and Analytics
  • Conclusion

Harvey Singh, CEO, Instancy will present Instancy's comprehensive learning system and xAPI implementation and conduct concurrent small group, plug-n-play demos and activities.

ADL's goal is to get as many I/ITSEC attendees to our concurrent event in order to showcase the possibilities of the Experience API and the work already accomplished by experienced, dedicated, visionary learning technology service providers. ADL Partnership Lab Directors from Latin America, Canada, the UK, Norway, Poland, Korea, Romania, Serbia, New Zealand, the Center for Intelligent Tutoring, and NATO Allied Command Transformation (ACT) will be on hand in the NATO ACT booth (Booth #1907). ADL staff will also be present in the NATO ACT booth throughout the week.

Aside from the PlugFest being an opportunity for Instancy to exchange ideas with myriads of xAPI developers and learn more about ADL's plans for 2015, I/ITSEC itself is a unique opportunity to showcase the xAPI-related projects and capabilities to a technology-forward, increasingly-curious cohort of decision makers in the United States armed services.

Instancy's demo includes integration of xAPI throughout its product suite (to delivery blended, mobile, social and competency-based learning):
